Karen F - California Caricature Artists

Karen F

Karen received her Bachelors of Arts Degree in 1965 from the University of California, Davis Campus. During her time in school she studied under the now famous artists, Wayne Thiebaud, Robert Arneson, and many others.

Their influences on her are mainly from the Pop and Funk Era, where satire and humour in the commonplace can be seen in her work. She has also taken classes and workshops from Susan Sarback(Chroma School of Light and Color) and from well-known sculptor, Miriam Davis. She has shown her work in the Sacramento, CA. area for the past 40 years, and during the 1990’s was represented by the Michael Himovitz Gallery and Gallery W.

In addition to this she has also been the recipient of many local art awards. She has a piece in the Permanent Collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art(SFMOMA), which was shown there in 1999, it is also shown in a book, “City by the Bay, San Francisco in Art and Literature.”

Currently Karen resides in California, with her husband Mike, a few cats, a few dogs, and lots of chickens. Her studio consists of the whole upstairs of their barn where she paints, sculpts, frames, and has a workshop for her 4 grandchildren.

Life has been good to Karen!
