Kathy R - Texas Face Painters

Kathy R

Kathy has loved art of all kinds since she was very young. Her father was a wonderful landscape artist, working with oils and acrylics. Kathy’s interests were more in sketching, cartooning and caricatures. In her late teens she was encouraged to interview at Six Flags over Texas for a job drawing caricatures. She was accepted, but excessive shyness kept her from taking the position. She continued to hone her skills through sketching every free moment and drawing cartoons of family member’s embarrassing moments.

Kathy's face painting career really began in her mid-thirties as she was approached by the church deacon to do face painting. He had seen her sketching out her bible stories on the chalkboard (her church was small, with little funds for the expensive Sunday school materials sold at stores.) So, for the next several years, a yearly event was where she honed her face painting skills.

Years later, a family tragedy led her to take a more active role in face painting and she did some research and began advertising her business. Two years ago, she quit her “day job” and went into face painting full time. Kathy frequently says how much she enjoys what she does and feels blessed to earn a living at something that is hard work, but so much fun! Her job is bringing smiles to the faces of all who sit in her chair to have their face or hand painted!
